9173197 Tonnes Wheat Procured In Punjab

Government agencies and private millers procured more than 9173197 tonnes of wheat till last evening
Out of total procurement of 9173197 tonnes of wheat in all the procurement centers of Punjab, Government agencies procured 9170966 tonnes of wheat till date whereas private traders procured 1431 tonnes of wheat. Till May 1, PUNGRAIN had procured 1500440 tonnes (16.4%) whereas MARKFED procured 2054007 tonnes (22.4%). PUNSUP procured 2139426 tonnes (23.3%), PSWC procured 1051550 tonnes (11.5%) whereas PAIC was able to procure 1066629 tonnes (11.6 %) of wheat.
The Central Government agency FCI had been able to procure 1358914 tonnes (14.8%).
The spokesman added that District Sangrur with 1061015 tonnes of procurement was leading in procurement operations whereas District Patiala with 975918 tonnes of procurement was at second slot and district Ludhiana with 813387 tonnes of procurement ranked at third position.
The State Government has set up more than 1750 procurement centres and activated its total machinery to ensure smooth procurement of wheat, the spokesman added.
